I love lists and reminders, so I enjoyed reading this to review what other things I've forgotten to attend to in my yard. I didn't know that fennel served the black swallowtail butterfly as a host for the eggs. I'm still learning, so I enjoyed the read.
Temperatures in our area rarely get above 70 in the summer. We have summer fog. The flowers still bloom and the weeds flourish! Thank you for the helpful reminders!
Julia, I love lists, also, and I definitely need reminders of when to do things in the garden. I always have lots of Bronze Fennel and
dill for the Black Swallowtail Butterflies to lay eggs on each year. The dill reseeds really well, and the Bronze Fennel comes back from the root and reseeds some so that I have plenty for the caterpillar babies. Pat
Karen, I envy your cool temps, especially when it gets over 100 in Southern Oklahoma in August. It is actually cool and rainy right now, and I can almost see the weeds grow! Pat
