The Grant Program

Espoma's ‘Plant America’ Grant Program was announced at the 2017 NGC Annual Convention in Richmond. Grants for $250 of Espoma products can be awarded to up to 20 NGC clubs annually. Since that time, over 30 grants have been awarded to clubs in 22 states. These creative NGC clubs have used this resource to beautify their local surroundings and improve the quality of life for their friends and neighbors.

Hobart Garden Club

Hobart Garden Club assists Gary, Indiana Veteran's HomeThe first Espoma Plant America grant was awarded in July of 2017 to the Hobart Garden Club in Hobart, Indiana.

The club used the award to support the creation of a rooftop vegetable garden at a veteran’s home in nearby Gary.

The garden is tended by residents and the produce is used in their kitchen, greatly increasing the amount of nutrient-dense green vegetables available.

The Thomas Jefferson Garden Club

Thomas Jefferson Garden Club assists McGuire's Veterans Hospital Richmond VirginiaThe Thomas Jefferson Garden Club used their grant to maintain and expand a rooftop garden at the McGuire's Veterans Hospital in Richmond, VA.

The project includes a sensory garden for the patients with head trauma and visual impairment.

The garden also provides a visual uplift to those patients who have rooms that border the garden. It has become a refuge for both patients and hospital staff.

Roselle Park District Garden Club

Thomas Jefferson Garden Club assists McGuire's Veterans Hospital Richmond Virginia Thomas Jefferson Garden Club assists McGuire's Veterans Hospital Richmond Virginia Thomas Jefferson Garden Club assists McGuire's Veterans Hospital Richmond Virginia The Roselle Park District Garden Club in Roselle Park, IL worked with the local school district and Food Pantry to create a community garden located on school grounds.

This project provided ongoing education and direct interaction for students, while the harvest from this vegetable garden was donated to the food pantry. The project yielded over 1,600 lbs. of fresh produce and herbs to the pantry.
