Let's Go Native
The Principal Financial Group
2007-2009 Civic Development Grant Program Winners
The Principal Financial Group and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. is pleased to announce the 2007-2009 Civic Development Grant Program winners.
A $50,000 Community Outreach Commitment was fully funded by
The Principal Financial Group to state garden clubs, for Regions, States, Districts and Member Clubs nationally.
The Civic Development grant program featured projects using local native plantings at public buildings such as schools, libraries, museums, parks, historic sites, gateways to cities, roadsides such as medians, roadways/by-ways, etc.

The response to this program was tremendous as 251 applications were
received. All of the applicants are to be thanked for entering, and
“Congratulations” to all of the clubs that received grants. The Grant
Program winners were awarded their monies based on a very defined
scoring system. In order to be equitable to all winners some applicants
received their request while others received a partial award. A letter
has been sent to each applicant identifying whether they won or lost
and the amount to be received. Clubs are to be commended for the
wonderful projects they are doing to beautify their cities.
