HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

FREE CONTAINER GARDEN PLANTS FOR
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HOMEOWNERS

We are thrilled to announce that NGC will again partner with HFH Home Builders Blitz program and “Perfectly Simple Giving” (PSG). During National Garden Week, PSG will make free container garden plants available to clubs wishing to participate in HFH’s 2008 Home Builders Blitz. Since 2006, PSG and participating garden clubs have provided colorful “welcome home” container gardens to hundreds of Habitat homeowners. This year promises to be the best year yet.

Starting March 25, 2008 and running through April 25, 2008, clubs participating in this year’s NGC/HFH Landscape Project will be asked to REGISTER for their free container garden plants on line at www.perfectlysimplegiving.com.

To be eligible for free plants, please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Full name of club, city and state location, and club Presidents name and email address.
  • Club contact person’s name, address and email (for shipping purposes).
  • Name and address of HFH Affiliate and name and email address of HFH
  • Affiliate contact person working with club representative.

Garden clubs are also asked to provide the containers for planting PSG plants.  Container gardens will be presented during your community’s Habitat for Humanity Home Builders Blitz event. We hope that you will share your digital photos and press clippings on your club’s participation with PSG and this chairman.

We are grateful to Ann Altman, President of “Perfectly Simple Giving” for one again so graciously providing free plants for Habitat homeowners.

About Habitat for Humanity’s Home Builders Blitz

Home Builders Blitz was started in 2002 by Tom Gipson, a professional home builder in Raleigh, N.C., who supported HFH’s efforts to eliminate poverty housing in his community. Gipson rallied other local builders for an accelerated build, which was so successful that HFH International decided to promote it as a nationwide event in 2006. Today, this nationwide network of homebuilder professionals in support for Habitat’s cause has grown to roughly 150 cities as it readies itself for the second national Home Builders Blitz May 31 to June 7, 2008, involving more than 1,000 professional builders with projections to build approximately 300 homes across the United States and Canada. To learn the cities and states participating in the HFH 2008 Blitz Build, you may do so by e-mailing: homebuildersblitz@habitat.org.

For more information at this time or for a list of HFH Affiliates by state, please contact Jo Williams, NGC Habitat for Humanity Landscaping Chairman.
